1961 Shasta
Voted "Best In Show" 2014 Home on the Grange
Description
This Shasta was found in the mountains west of Boulder Colorado. When we got it home, the walls had separated from the floor, and only the cabinets were holding the trailer from collapse. We decided to rebuild it into an AirFlyte because when we bought it we had an SUV and the overhang would have hit the roof. We towed it home with an 18" hitch extension. This trailer was a complete tear down as when we got home we realized all we bought was a frame, title, and a set of templates. Almost everything was brand new when we were done with it, only the frame, axle, and some windows existed from the original trailer.
Before:
Started out as a 1961 Astrodome.
After:
We rebuilt it as a 1961 Airflyte with a custom interior layout.
Dinette
Looking in the front door at the dinette, custom cabinets with round corners and vintage cowboy Barkcloth curtains.
Bedroom
Looking toward the back, a custom gaucho couch makes into a standard full-size bed.
Kitchen
The kitchen, boomerang countertops, aqua stove, sink, and ice box. The cabinets were built with curved corners. The layout may seem like a standard design but it was custom.
